About us

Semper Eadem was established in 1886. According to one of the most plausible accounts, it was that year when William Wilkins Vincent (1843–1916) moved to Leicester, where he started a flourishing hat manufacturing business. He was elected mayor of Leicestershire County twice, in 1902 and 1910. In recognition of his civil service, Vincent was knighted by George V on the 1st of January 1912 and became Sir William Vincent. The company moved with the times and existed right up until 2018. We deemed it essential to preserve the brand and revived Semper Eadem, while safeguarding and developing the traditional values and obligations that come with the company’s motto.
Semper Eadem, which is Elizabeth I’s motto, expresses stability, integrity and serenity. In other words, “Whatever the vicissitudes, in times good and bad, I remain the same. Whether you are rich or poor, noble or simple, in mercy or in disfavour – it makes no difference to me”. Elizabeth I is still beloved by the British people for her contribution to the nation.
At Semper Eadem, price is consistent with materials and labour. Our brand is centred around Smart Luxury, which stands for handcrafted products and technologies from around the world. We use rare and sometimes even unique fabrics, including high quality merino wool and extremely rare and eco-friendly materials, such as vicuna, spider silk, mushroom leather, cactus leather, lotus silk and fabrics from bamboo and eucalyptus. Indeed, we are constantly looking for new fabrics and technologies, both existing and lost.
We offer our regular product selection throughout the year, consisting of the most popular and time-tested items. Beyond that, Semper Eadem’s limited collection will include models ordered by heads of state and celebrities from different times past. This collectible headwear is made to antique templates. Our ‘Atelier’ line represents custom-made products, while the ‘Büro | Miracle Lab’ offers experimental art collaborations with fashion designers, products for the home and other lines.
Most felt hats are traditionally made by hand, with technologies and machines that are more than 150 years old. Thus, our customers are guaranteed to get the utmost quality and uniqueness.
We care about the environment by monitoring the sustainability of our production and opting to avoid killing animals for clothes. Our headwear is made in Europe according to strict environmental and other standards.
